Autumn Apple Crisp
Easier than apple pie, this apple crisp will pretty much need ingredients you already have in your pantry!
Also all you need is just one bowl and a baking dish and you're good to go. Ok lets go!
I have all the measurements down at the bottom for you.
Make sure to start by preheating your
Add all your crisp topping ingredients into a large bowl, oats, flour, castor sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. You can use instant oats or rolled oats for this recipe, whatever you've got in that pantry.
Next add in cold cubed butter.
Quick tip, you can start with a fork to mix everything together but definitely use your hand for this next step of mixing. Rub all the ingredients with the tips of your fingers, making sure to break up the butter into smaller bits and evenly distributed.
Grease a baking dis with butter. Peel, core and slice up your apples, not to thin! Mix apples with lime juice to keep them from browning and to add that tartness (you could skip this step, I did and it still tasted amazing, also I didn't have any limes at home).
Now for the next step you could use a tiny bowl to mix all the ingredients for the flower mixture or you could just sprinkle everything directly onto the apples.
Mix flour, castor sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add this flour mix to the apples and make sure apples are layered evenly into the baking dish.
Add the crisp topping mixture on the top of the apples and press down slightly to make room for all the topping. It seems like a lot of topping but everything shrinks down once baked.
Place in the oven and bake until the top is golden brown. Serve hot with a scoop of ice cream!
Warm, crispy and gooey goodness! Add some caramel sauce for that extra kick.
